Stop that Summertime Slump

The summer months can be a bit of a crazy ride for gyms. Members are taking their workouts outside, lounging on a patio into the late hours, or on vacation. This might mean your club visits, group fitness attendance, and PT sales are experiencing a slump.

Here are 3 easy ways to stop that summertime slump by translating the best parts of summer into reasons to visit your club physically or on social.

1. No Sunscreen needed!

Long runs can turn brutal in the hottest summer months. Remind your members they can take refuge from the sun, bug spray and sweltering heat by visiting your club to log their miles. A playful email subject linelike Look hot, not like a hot mess could grab their attention and get them to click an email to bring your club front of mind. Be sure to include a guest pass to drive referrals and further entice them to take their workout indoors.

2. #vacationworkouts

Your members are sure to take a sweaty selfie post workout anyway, so give them a reason to give you a shout out. Create workouts printed on a card that members can take with them on vacation. On one side you could print the workout and on the other side print a large hashtag with your gym’s name on it with other catchy hashtags. After your members get their sweat on they can take a pic with the card and post it. You could create a contest for most creative picture, most vacation workouts or create a leaderboard with fastest completed workout. Have fun with it and go hashtag crazy!

3. Leave the patio and strike a pose

It doesn’t get better than a breezy summer night surrounded by friends. Try taking some of your later evening yoga classes outside. Twilight yoga creates an environment you just can’t get inside. A change of scenery might be the thing to get new members and their friends trying out your gym. What better advertisement is there for your club than drive by traffic seeing your gym in action?

Stop the summer slump by helping your members beat the heat, staying connected with you while on vacation, and spending their evenings with you!
